12. Student Commitments

Attendance

If you are planning to do your study for credit towards an award, you will need to:
  • attend all classes
  • complete all assignments
  • sit any exam which forms part of the assessment for a subject

Subjects with exams

The following Diploma subjects we offer are assessed by both assignments and an exam, each worth 50%.
  • Old Testament overview subjects: OT201-OT202
  • New Testament overview subjects: NT201-OT202
  • All Theology (TH) subjects: TH210-TH212
  • All Church History (CH) subjects: CH201-CH202, CH205-206
  • All Philosophy & Ethics (PE) subjects: PE220

Subjects with assignments only

All other subjects are assessed by a variety of assignments only.

From 2009, all Old Testament and New Testament exegesis subjects (OT205-OT208 and NT205-NT208) are assessed by assignments only. An exam is no longer compulsory for exegesis subjects.

Assignments

Assignments will be made available to you by the second class in each semester.

If you are full time, you may find that you have a heavy load of assignments due at one time. Therefore, if you feel that you are unable to complete your assignments, you need to talk this over with the Registrar.

Enrolment with the Australian College of Theology

If you are working towards a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma, you must enrol each subject with The Australian College of Theology. This means lodging the official "Enrolment in ACT Units" form by the Administration Date(s) for your subject(s). Please see Section 13 "How to enrol with The Australian College of Theology" in this handbook for more information on this.

Discontinuing Study

You are asked to notify the Registrar if you decide to discontinue your study during the academic year. See Section 15.5 "Variation of enrolment with The Australian College of Theology" in this handbook for information on the procedures to follow in this situation.
