23. Ministry and Practice subjects
Ministry and Practice subjects are those in the Evangelism and Missions (EM), Pastoral and Church-Focussed Ministry (PC) and Developmental Ministry (DM) fields.
The aim behind these subjects is to provide supervised education in which theory and practice go hand in hand. It is not intended that you will have developed competence upon completion of these subjects. Rather, it is envisaged that sufficient ability will have been gained so that you can enter ministry aware of major issues, your own personal strengths and weaknesses, and the resources available to continue growing.
- There is no examination at the end of these types of subjects.
- Assignments for these types of subjects will be varied, combining theory and practice.
Special information regarding field education subjects, such as
PC243 Pastoral Care Field Education
You will meet approximately six to eight times over the semester with a supervisor from Mary Andrews College. The majority of the subject will be practical work done in your church or ministry setting. You will nominate a responsible person to write a report on your work.
An Assessment Report Form must be completed and handed in to your appropriate lecturer, together with a 1,500 word report. You will complete this form towards the end of the semester.
The 1,500 word report usually includes an account of, and a reflection on, practical work done.
Since this subject is assessed entirely by Mary Andrews College, we are responsible for completing the supervisor's section of the Assessment Report Form.
Field education subjects are assessed on a pass / fail basis only.
