Loss and Discovery:  Responding to grief with the compassion of Christ and the skills of God’s people

Grief is an appropriate topic for our inaugural conference because every counsellor, every doctor, every minister, teacher and nurse encounters grief regularly when caring for patients, clients and congregations. Every one of us also carries grief in our own lives while caring for others.  Everyone, therefore, has something to contribute and something to learn from this conference. Some of us have expertise and all of us have experience in the workings of grief. And at the same time, grief is such a complex, confusing, multifaceted phenomenon that we all have more to learn more about its physical, spiritual, emotional and theological dimensions.

This conference is not only for professional carers but for everyone who is seeking to gain competence and confidence in loving the people around them in Jesus’ name.

Christian Care Network of Australasia (CCNA) is an initiative of Mary Andrews College, with the support of  Australian College of Theology. CCNA is a forum drawing together the strengths of God’s people in the research, training and practice of Christian care, aiming to build:

  • Biblically grounded research-informed models of human need;
  • Deep Christian compassion throughout the church and community; and
  • Competent and effective Christian caring wherever it is needed.
