Old Testament Overview (core)
Capture the 'big picture' of God's message to His people in the Old Testament as He puts in place His plan to bring the Lord Jesus to earth. Our ministry and everyday life is deeply affected by rightly understanding God's purposes.

New Testament Overview (core)
Study the New Testament writings in their original context. Not only will your relationship with Jesus be enriched, you will be inspired to see how relevant God's word is to your life and witness today.

Christian Belief (core)
Gain a sound knowledge of the Christian faith and strengthen your faith and commitment to God. You will understand how important our beliefs are for shaping our lives and ministries. You will be inspired to see the richness of God's love towards us.

Introduction to Pastoral Care (elective)
Examine the biblical basis for pastoral care, the pressures experienced in society, caring for people with relational difficulties, depression, addictions, illness and grief issues. Also look at how pastoral care and evangelism relate to one another and how to care for oneself.

Practical Pastoral Care (elective)
(Australian College of Theology name: Lay Ministries Field Education)
Develop practical pastoral care skills. Learn how to ask helpful questions and to listen effectively. Learn how to reflect theologically and practically on your current pastoral care ministry, learn some helpful models and understand boundaries in pastoral care. Learn about sensitive use of the scriptures and prayer. You can use your current ministry as the basis for this subject and develop your skills.

Ministry with Seniors (elective)
Australia has an ageing population and ministry in this area is vital. Be equipped to take up the opportunities for ministry with older people. Older people within our congregations and communities need support and encouragement to live well for Jesus. Many need to come to know Jesus. There are also many resources that older people bring to the life of the Church that need to be encouraged and nurtured. This subject will open up exciting possibilities of serving in Christ's name.

Grief (elective)
Be equipped to deal with an issue that touches the life of every person. There are many experiences in life that involve grief - it maybe death, the breakdown of a relationship, the loss of a dream or job, going through different life stages. Develop the skills to share the God of compassion with people who are experiencing any sort of loss.
