1. To ensure that you acquire the elements of an understanding of the life and thought of the early church (to 451 AD);
2. To provide some awareness of the key theological debates in the early church as background to the later study of theology;
3. To assist you to learn, from the history of the early church, lessons which can be applied to understanding of ministry today;
4. To promote training in the use of primary documents.
Content
You will be expected to show knowledge of the content of documents of the periods studied such as are published in New Eusebius and Creeds, Councils and Controversies both published by SPCK and edited by J. Stevenson.
