One aspect of college life which we don’t hear much about is the workplace training which Mary Andrews College offers to Christian organisations. Jackie Stoneman has devised some day-long workshops which the College offers to Christian work places.
Over the past two years Jackie has been doing this training with Anglicare and to St Andrew's Cathedral School. Workers have been encouraged and inspired to put their Christian faith into action at their workplaces. They have also come away from these training seminars with a new appreciation of the kind of influence they have in ways they may not suspect.
Recently, Jackie has conducted 4 workshops for Anglicare staff at several different venues. The evaluation forms which participants were encouraged to complete makes fascinating - and encouraging - reading!
When asked "What did you learn today?", the overwhelming response was:
“How to handle conflict in a godly way”
“How to deal with conflict constructively”
The question “What did you like most in today’s training?” also had fairly standard answer…..Jackie!
“Jackie is great at communication and listening - a great teacher!”
“Excellent presenter…..involved everyone to interact”
“Jackie’s engagement with the group”
“The clarity with which it was presented”
Already, Jackie is working on another workshop which will go even further in the biblical understanding of what it means to be a Christian in the work place. And there are people lining up to attend!
“When is the next one?”
“Thank you. Please keep having workshops.”
“The best seminar I have ever experienced with Anglicare.”
So, the question is, are you working in a Christian workplace which could use some training like this? Do you work at a school, nursing home, retirement village, business or church staff team which could benefit from a day together, discussing the biblical underpinnings of faith in the workplace, and some practical help on that integration.
