Advanced Diploma level 2020 courses

Mary Andrews College is an affiliated college of the Australian College of Theology and offers its accredited advanced diploma (AQF Level 6) courses. (AQF is the Australian Qualifications Framework.)

From 2020, each unit is worth either 8 credit points (cps) or 12 credit points (cps). Each 8cp unit requires 100 demand hours (including 24 hours of class time) and each 12cp unit requires 150 demand hours (including 36 hours of class time). (The demand hours per unit are made up of face-to-face class time, readings and work on assessments.)

At AQF Level 5, each 8cp unit requires the completion of 3,000 words of assessment and each 12cp unit requires the completion of 4,000 words of assessment.

At AQF Level 6, each 12cp unit requires 5,000-5,500 words of assessment.

The advanced diploma courses are open to suitable students with an ATAR of 65.00 or higher, or a previously completed higher education course at AQF Level 5 (diploma) or higher. Otherwise, a satisfactorily completed admissions test is required.

Advanced Diploma Of Theology

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Advanced Diploma of Theology (AdvDipTh) is an AQF Level 6 course. It requires the completion of 144 credit points (cps) across 12-17 units at AQF Level 5 or above and including at least 24cps are at AQF Level 6 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Advanced Diploma of Theology may be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study or up to 6 years of part time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

Mary Andrews College has chosen not to offer any AQF Level 6 units at the moment. Please note that note that there are other ACT-affiliated colleges which do offer these higher level units.

Advanced Diploma of Theology

The Advanced Diploma of Theology requires the following core (common ministry/theology stream) units:

and the following primary course discipline units:

  • Up to 6 units (48cps) from the Bible field of study (BB, OT or NT) and/or the Christian Thought and History field of study (TH, CH or PE), including at least 12cps (1 unit) at AQF Level 6 or above

and the following elective units:

  • At least 48cps of elective units (typically up to 6 units) from any field of study
    (Note: The actual number of elective units that are required for completion will differ from student to student according to the other units already completed and the number of credit points already gained.)

Total = 12-17 units (144cps), of which 24cps (2 units) must be completed at AQF Level 6

It requires the completion of 144 credit points (cps) across 12-17 units at AQF Level 5 or above and including at least 24cps are at AQF Level 6 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Advanced Diploma of Ministry may be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study or up to 6 years of part time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

Total = 12-17 units (144cps), of which 24cps (2 units) must be completed at AQF Level 6
