Diploma Of Christian Studies

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Diploma of Christian Studies requires the completion of 32 credit points across 8-12 units. Each unit is worth 3 or 4 credit points (cps).

The Diploma of Christian Studies may be completed in a minimum of 1 year of full-time study. Currently no maximum time limit, but a 6 year time limit for part-time study is being introduced from 2020.

Full-time study is considered to be four units per semester. (No students may enrol in more than five units in any one semester.)

The Diploma of Christian Studies requires the following units:

  • Three to six units from any field of study (Note: The actual number of elective units that are required for completion will differ from student to student according to the other units already completed and the total hours already accumulated.)

Diploma of Theology

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Diploma of Theology requires the completion of 48 credit points across 10-12 units. Each unit is worth 3 or 4 credit points (cps).

The Diploma of Theology may be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study. Currently no maximum time limit, but a time limit for part-time study is being introduced from 2020.

Full-time study is considered to be four units per semester. (No students may enrol in more than five units in any one semester.)

  • Old Testament Overview (OT240)
  • New Testament Overview (NT240)
  • One unit from the following: Early Church History (CH205), The Reformation (CH206), or Rise of Christianity: Acts to the Reformation (CH240).
  • One unit from the following: God and the Person and Work of Christ (TH210), or Holy Spirit, Grace and Hope (TH211).

and three units across:

The Diploma of Ministry may be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study. Currently no maximum time limit, but a time limit for part-time study is being introduced from 2020.

Full-time study is considered to be four units per semester. (No students may enrol in more than five units in any one semester.)

Combined Diploma of Theology / Diploma of Ministry

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The combined Diploma of Theology / Diploma of Ministry requires the completion of 16 units (i.e. 64 credit points). Each unit is worth 3 or 4 credit points (cps).

The combined Diploma of Theology / Diploma of Ministry requires the successful completion of two years of full-time study or the equivalent part time.

Full-time study is considered to be four units per semester. No students may enrol in more than five units in any one semester.

(Pathway 1)

This course requires the following common core units:

  • Old Testament (OT): OT240
    (or both OT201 and OT202)
  • New Testament (NT): NT240
    (or both NT201 and NT202)
  • Christianity in History (CH): one of CH240,
    CH205CH206
  • Theology (TH): either TH210 or TH211

and the following primary course discipline units:

  • Old Testament exegesis (OT):
    one unit
  • New Testament exegesis (NT):
    one unit
  • Christian Thought and History (TH/CH/PE):
    one more unit*
  • Ministry and Practice (EM/PC/DM): two units

Electives: minimum of four more units, including a maximum of two type-B units (if offered)

Advanced Diploma Of Theology

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Advanced Diploma of Theology requires the completion of 16 units (i.e. 64 credit points), of which four units (16 credit points) must be completed at degree (300-400) level. Each unit is worth 3 or 4 credit points (cps).

The Advanced Diploma of Theology requires the successful completion of two years of full-time study or the equivalent part time.

Full-time study is considered to be four units per semester. No students may enrol in more than five units in any one semester.

Mary Andrews College has chosen not to offer any degree (300-400) level units at the moment. Please note that, if required, there are other ACT-affiliated colleges which do offer degree (300-400) level units.
