Diploma Of Christian Studies

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Diploma of Christian Studies (DipChrStuds) an AQF Level 5 course and it requires the completion of 96 credit points (cps) across 10-12 units, all at AQF Level 5 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Diploma of Christian Studies may be completed in a minimum of one year of full-time study, or up to 6 years of part-time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

The Diploma of Christian Studies allows for a broader spread of units.

Diploma of Christian Studies

The Diploma of Christian Studies requires the following primary course discipline units:

  • Up to 3 units (at least 24cps) from the Bible field of study (BB, OT or NT) and the Christian Thought and History field of study (TH, CH or PE), including at least 1 unit from each field
  • Up to 2 units (at least 12cps) from the Ministry and Practice field of study (EM, PC or DM)

and the following elective units:

  • Up to 7 units (at least 52cps) of Elective units from any field of study
    (Note: The actual number of elective units that are required for completion will differ from student to student according to the other units already completed and the number of credit points already gained.)

Total = 10-12 units (96 credit points)

Diploma of Theology

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Diploma of Theology (DipTh) is an AQF Level 5 course and it requires the completion of 96 credit points (cps) across 10-11 units, all at AQF Level 5 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Diploma of Theology may be completed in a minimum of one year of full-time study, or up to 5.5 years of part-time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

The Diploma of Theology provides a foundation in theology as a basis for ministry.

Diploma of Theology

The Diploma of Theology requires the following core (common ministry/theology stream) units:

  • Old Testament Overview (OT003-512) (12cps)
  • New Testament Overview (NT003-512) (12cps)
  • 1 unit (at least 8cps) from the following: Early Church History (30-451AD) (CH005-512), The Reformation (CH015-508)Rise of Christianity: Acts to the Reformation (CH040-512), God and the Person and Work of Christ (TH020-508), or Christian Worldview (PE010-512)

and the following primary course discipline units:

  • At least 36cps of elective units (typically up to 5 units) from any field of study
    (Note: The actual number of elective units that are required for completion will differ from student to student according to the other units already completed and the number of credit points already gained.)

The Diploma of Ministry may be completed in a minimum of one year of full-time study, or up to 5.5 years of part-time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

The Diploma of Ministry integrates study of the Bible with a more practical focus on ministry.

It requires the completion of 144 credit points (cps) across 12-17 units, all at AQF Level 5 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Diploma of Theology/Diploma of Ministry may be completed in a minimum of 1.5 years of full-time study, or up to 7.5 years of part-time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6) units per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

Advanced Diploma Of Theology

ThisACT logo colour with writing is a course of the Australian College of Theology. The Advanced Diploma of Theology (AdvDipTh) is an AQF Level 6 course. It requires the completion of 144 credit points (cps) across 12-17 units at AQF Level 5 or above and including at least 24cps are at AQF Level 6 or above. From 2020, each unit is worth 8cps or 12cps.

The Advanced Diploma of Theology may be completed in 1.5 years of full-time study or up to 6 years of part time study. Full-time study is 48cps (4-6 units) per semester. (No students will be allowed to enrol in more than 60cps of units in any one semester.)

Mary Andrews College has chosen not to offer any AQF Level 6 units at the moment. Please note that note that there are other ACT-affiliated colleges which do offer these higher level units.

Advanced Diploma of Theology

The Advanced Diploma of Theology requires the following core (common ministry/theology stream) units:

and the following primary course discipline units:

  • Up to 6 units (48cps) from the Bible field of study (BB, OT or NT) and/or the Christian Thought and History field of study (TH, CH or PE), including at least 12cps (1 unit) at AQF Level 6 or above

and the following elective units:

  • At least 48cps of elective units (typically up to 6 units) from any field of study
    (Note: The actual number of elective units that are required for completion will differ from student to student according to the other units already completed and the number of credit points already gained.)

Total = 12-17 units (144cps), of which 24cps (2 units) must be completed at AQF Level 6
