In the Spotlight: Rev. Karen Davison

When Rev. Karen Davison began studying at MAC, she hoped that it would better equip her to work in women’s ministry. However, the professional and ministry opportunities that opened up for her after she graduated from MAC with an Advanced Diploma of Ministry in 2013 were well beyond what she had anticipated.

“My journey has taken me beyond my greatest expectations,” she said.

Karen previously worked as the State Director for Interserve Australia and was ordained as a Deacon in the Anglican church in February this year. She hopes to become a Specialist Reserve Chaplain with the Australian Air Force later this year.

Karen said her time at MAC prepared her for her professional work and ministry. “Not only did MAC enable me to be more employable, but it gave me a sense of purpose, a love of studying theology and related subjects, and an opportunity to explore some real-life issues from a theological perspective,” she said. “The practical skills I gained for dealing with life’s messiness, and the increased confidence in my handling of Scripture in Bible studies and talks have been invaluable.”

In considering what the next season of her life will bring, Karen is excited to see “how God will continue to shape and use me”.
