“The Lord is our God for ever and ever, and he will be our guide until we die.”
Some days it feels as though everything we thought we could rely on is changing.
Even things that seemed rock solid – relationships, roles, places, material possessions – can change or disappear and their loss can take our breath away. On those days it is good to remind ourselves that one thing will never change – God’s love for us – and he promises never to leave us.
In Psalm 48:14 we read “The Lord is our God for ever and ever, and he will be our guide until we die.” And Romans 8:38 assures us that nothing, nothing at all, can ever separate us from God’s love shown to us in Jesus.
A couple of good books that speak with wisdom about life’s transitions and losses are:
And Not One Bird Stopped Singing by Doris Moreland Jones (Upper Room Books 1997)
Lost in the Middle by Paul David Tripp (Shepherd Press 2004).
