Academic support

Academic assistance is available to all our students whether it be accessing resources, such as library resources, developing your academic skills, academic English and time management or course engagement support.

Lecturers

Our Lecturers are your best starting point. They are resourceful, experienced people dedicated to your academic growth. We encourage you to raise any question or need regarding subject content and assignments with your lecturer as soon as needed. They are happy for you to ask for things such as: guidance on upcoming assignments or additional feedback on a previous assignment, and more. Contact your lecturers in person before or after class, or through Moodle or email (provided in Unit Outlines).

Workshops

Hone your academic skills - study skills and assignment writing - through our College workshops. We will inform you of workshop dates and details through Moodle and email.

 Library Access and Support

Moodle and our Student Handbook provide extensive information on how to access Library resources. Our Library Support staff are also happy to help. Our administration team are also ready to help if our Library Staff are unavailable. Please contact them via macmin@mac.edu.au

Pastoral Support

If you would like to discuss any pastoral concerns with a member of MAC staff, your unit lecturers are a great starting point. You are also able to contact the college Dean of Students to arrange a confidential appointment.

Disability Support

According to the Disability Standards for Education, Australian education providers are required to make “reasonable adjustments” to ensure the inclusion of students with disabilities. These adjustments are to ensure that students with disabilities are able to participate in study on the same basis as students without disabilities. Education providers are also required to work to eliminate harassment and victimisation on the basis of disability. (Commonwealth of Australia. (2006). Disability Standards for Education 2005 plus Guidance Notes. Canberra: Commonwealth of Australia.)

In order for us to best support students with disabilities, learning difficulties and/or chronic health conditions, it is helpful for you disclose this information on your ACT and MAC enrolment form. It is also helpful to discuss this with a member of MAC staff to ensure we do all we can to support your individual needs. You can choose to discuss this privately with your individual lecturers, the administrative staff, or the Dean of Students.
