“Our hope is that you'll gain a new understanding of how the Bible speaks to daily life, along with a glimpse of why theology really is for everyone.”

‘On Knowing’

Many of us assume that if we know the right things, then we’ll live the right way. If we could learn the Bible more clearly, think more deeply, and grasp the right truths, then surely our lives would follow.

And yet, our everyday experience is rarely that simple.

We know that patience matters but still speak sharply. We know prayer is good but struggle to do it. We know how we should live—and yet we struggle to live those things out. There is a gap between what we know and how we live.

This short series is an invitation for you to come and explore that gap with me.

Over five days, we’re going to think about what it means to know God—not just in our minds, but in our whole lives. Along the way, we’ll see that the issue is not that we need more information, but that we might better understand what kind of beings we are, what kind of knowing is involved, and how God, by his Spirit, shapes us over time into the likeness of Christ.

Meet your guide

An educator and theologian, Rev. Dr Becki Philip will be taking us through our Everyday Theology series this June.

Becki is passionate about the intersection of education, theology, and Christian ministry. She holds a PhD in curriculum from Sydney University and theological studies from Moore Theological College. As Dean of Education at Mary Andrews College, she brings a distinctive blend of theological insight and innovative learning design to shape the college’s educational offerings with depth, creativity, and purpose.

About Everyday Theology

Our conviction is simple: we all need more theology, not less.

When we understand more of God — who he is, how he's revealed himself in Jesus, what that means for how we live — we're better equipped for everything. At work, at home, in the conversations that catch us off guard.

The truth is, we're all already theologians. Every time we think about God, reach for Scripture, or try to understand his will in difficult circumstances, we're doing theology. Everyday Theology is just an invitation to do it a little more deliberately.

Each series runs for five days. You'll receive one email each day — a theological reflection, a question to sit with, and a way to engage with others working through the same ideas. Past series have explored what the Bible says about living ethically, and how theology intersects with psychological wellbeing.

It's free. It's short. And we've found the ideas tend to stay with you.

At Mary Andrews College, we help women and men grow in their knowledge of God and capacity to serve others—not just for a semester, but for a lifetime.

We know, from Scripture, that when we study his word, we find an invitation to fall more deeply in love with him. When we consider the gospel, the death and resurrection of Jesus, it’s this love that not only transforms our lives but spills out into the lives of those around us.

About Mary Andrews College

We've held this conviction since 1891. Our namesake Mary Andrews, who served as Principal for over 20 years, said: “The measure of what you can do for the world will be simply what you let God do with yourself.”

Every lesson in your course connects biblical understanding with real-life implications—at home, at work, in your church, in your community.

Theology is for everyone

We’d love for you to join us for our next series!
